Billionaire Peter Phi: “Everyone Should Own Bitcoin”Thomas Peterffy, known as the father of high-speed trading, has endorsed Bitcoin (BTC). According to cryptocurrency media outlet U Today on the 11th (local time), Thomas Peterffy, founder of Interactive Brokers, a large U.S. securities firm, and billionaire businessman, said in an interview with Bloomberg that people “should have Bitcoin (BTC).” However, he did not recommend getting too much exposure to major cryptocurrencies. The billionaire advised people to invest 2% to 3% of their net worth in Bitcoin. However, he noted that it would be “too risky” to allow someone to invest more than 10% of their assets in a major cryptocurrency. The founder of Interactive Brokers was initially critical of Bitcoin, but after reports emerged that the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) was preparing to launch Bitcoin futures, he argued that Bitcoin should be kept away from the “real economy.” He even predicted that Bitcoin could eventually bring down the entire economy. But in July 2021, Peterffy changed his stance and revealed that he was a cryptocurrency holder, saying he had invested “a little bit” in cryptocurrencies. At the time, he said there was a “small chance” that cryptocurrencies would emerge as the dominant currency. In November 2022, Peterffy said he was surprised that Bitcoin had not experienced a steeper correction following the sudden collapse of the FTX cryptocurrency empire. Interactive Brokers, known as the largest electronic trading platform in the United States, launched cryptocurrency trading for Bitcoin and several altcoins in 2021, according to UToday. see more
